Ashcombe Farm Fall Harvest Days

If you happen to find some free time this season, I suggest packing up the kiddos and heading over to Ashcombe Farm's Fall Harvest Days! We have visited each year since Javon was one. Not much has changed but it is still a great little gem of the season. First, it's free! Yep, no admission costs! It's fairly close to the Harrisburg area, and Javon enjoys it. It's a winning situation all around! Fall Harvest Days run through November 1st, with extra events on the weekends. Everyday you can enjoy a hay play area, games, a tunnel maze, corn maze, playground, and horse-drawn hay rides. The corn maze and hay rides do have a fee, but everything else is free to enjoy at no cost!

We stopped over a few days ago to check it out for the season. I was surprised to see the hay rides running on a weekday, but I guess when they say everyday they mean everyday! It was a gloomy day so we didn't get to spend a whole lot of time there, but we did explore a bit. Javon played multiple games throughout the area, and we walked through the "spooky dark maze". Javon admired the hay "sculptures" which featured Olaf, a Minion and SpongeBob this year! After that he spotted the corn maze and wanted to give it a try. The website billed it as a mini-maze but I still was not sure what to expect. We approached the payment shed and I handed the employee 4$ to cover the charge of 2$ per person. Let's just say that is 4$ I wish I could get back. Skip the corn maze! In less the 2 minutes we were at the exit. Javon was disappointed, so was I. After that let down, we explored for a few more moments, and Javon played on the playground for a bit before we headed home. We skipped the hayride this year, due to my lack of cash, (they do not accept cards!) and the impending doom that hovered over us in the form of grey clouds. Even though the corn maze was underwhelming, it is definitely not the main attraction and will not keep us from visiting again!
